STEP 1 -2
363 George St Envelope
I will start the cactus model by defining the the elevator shaft. Using the shaft as a starting point I will then go through individual voids using the extruded cut function.

The revolve and sweep tutorial was fairly easy. I have used a similar concept in 3d studio max to sweep and revolve. I am beginning to like the property manager because it holds so many variables for different features.
Out of the three tutorial this was the most difficult. Bending the part with the flex feature by selecting the trim planes was a difficult concept for me to understand. But in the end I prevailed and completed the tutorial.
Solidworks feels like a very useful program. I have used vectorworks before and I think it has some similar characteristics. This tutorial on parts gave me a fairly basic idea on what this program can produce.

EXP 1
Custom Machinima
When the grid starts to fall the barrels below it exploded to create an initial blast. Then when the grid is almost fallen a secondary blast is followed by the final mega blast propelling all objects around the scene. This controlled explosion was done to show notions of porosity by having a small explosion chain react to a mega explosion.
Found Machinima
In this clip there are short clips to show the effects of an explosion on objects within a space. The quote “An explosion changes everything” gives a feeling of doom and destruction. When the police vehicle was blown up in the GTA4 clip, annihilation was the best word to describe the chaos that was happening. Notions of explosion can be felt while viewing this clip.

Modes
One of the modes that were chosen for this custom machinima clip was observation. It was chosen because the concepts behind the explosions were only seen when observing it. Different angles and view can be captured while observing to give notions of explosions. Observation mode also allows simultaneous explosions to be captured while running around the scene. Another mode chose for this clip was first person. The clip shows the first person standing with people and then being killed because of the explosion. This was done to show notions of porosity. By using these modes, it was the most effect way to communicate my views.
WEEK 2
3 dimensional field of objects
In this explosion there is an initial blast that sets off the flammable barrels in the trailers above. The three dimensional field of objects sets the scene for the massive chain reaction explosions below.

WEEK 1 TASK
My Creation
Youtube Clip
Youtube Clip
This is a explosion created in Gmod. I was very interested in this explosion because the forces all projected outwards making the scene enjoyable to watch. A chain reaction is shown when the person is running away from the container then the whole scene is lit up by the explosion.
